We're very pleased to offer our customers an exciting new product from Aurora Design, the FMC-1 FM tuner module.
FMC-1 FM upgrade fitted and working £165
Because the FMC-1 module works with the existing radio electronics, we strongly recommend that your radio is serviced before fitting the FM upgrade. The service price will vary depending on the make and model of your radio, please contact us and we will quote for the service accordingly.
What is the FMC-1 upgrade module?
The FMC-1 is a microprocessor-controlled, digital quartz-lock design that has all the sensitivity and stability of any modern radio, yet it is designed to FEEL LIKE a 1970's style analog radio. No digital channel-hopping, no sudden station-jumping, no heavy muting, as is typically found on other analog/digital conversion radios.
The FMC-1 is fully compatible with 6 volt and/or positive ground vehicles without the need for additional power supplies or memory wires, and can be configured for European tuning, North American tuning or even Japanese tuning. This configuration includes frequency, channel spacing, and de-emphasis settings.
This module really performs beautifully and is, without doubt, the best add-on FM tuner available today!
For best performance, the original radio should be properly rebuilt before the FMC-1 PCB is added. Even if working, it contains components that deteriorate over time and restrict performance. These components must be replaced if the radio is expected to work properly and reliably.
Once your AM radio is rebuilt, serviced and aligned to its original specification, a tiny PCB (FMC-1) is installed which adds FM tuning and input mode for iPod® MP3 players or other accessories. The radio remains totally original but for the addition of this PCB which means that this modification can easily be reversed if necessary, thereby retaining the originality and value of your radio.
All functions of the radio work in FM as well as AM, including push button presets, internal or external fader controls, electronic presets, Rotomatic tuners, Wonderbar tuners, Town & Country tuners, tone controls/switches, and sensitivity switches. The only operational change is the ability to switch modes using 'Power Cycling'. If the radio is switched off and immediately back on within one second, the mode is switched between AM, FM, and Input modes. Once the desired mode is set, the radio REMAINS in that mode until deliberately changed.
